Chapter 5 - "Livin' the Retail Life"

Well, it's been awhile since we're checked in, which is a sign of one thing only:  wow, we're busy!  While I continue to settle into my new responsibilities at K&Company, I find myself more and more in awe of my good fortune in connecting with this fine organization.  My co-workers are gifted, spirited and passionate about their work - they are genius designers, marketers, and product creators - I am blessed.

But the main topic of today's chapter is Rick and his adventures at Uncle Ricky's - to own a small business is a daunting proposition, but Rick not only enjoys it, he thrives in it.  He continues to nurture and grow our enterprise, and the product assortment is totally "him".  If you haven't been to Uncle Ricky's yet, you owe to yourselves to get there - fast!  As Valentine's Day approaches, we have built an assortment of clever, thoughtful and funny expressions of affection and love.  Need something a bit out of the ordinary for this mushy yet meaningful holiday?  We have nostalgic decor, funny cards, even little tokens of affection that are perfect ways to celebrate V-Day!

Supporting the small businesses in your area has been the topic of discussion at our house - on several levels:  Katie wrote a paper on this subject, encouraging her readers to remember how important this segment of retail is to society.  Small business is where you find creativity, innovation, unique product assortments, and personal, involved and committed owners & workers.  Katie is learning about the advantages & challenges of owning a business through her buying & merchandising efforts at Uncle Ricky's in "Katie's Closet" - her own department of trendy, stylish & fashionable accessories.  Also great gifts for this Valentine season - so you owe it to yourself to shop at Uncle Ricky's  - often & soon!
